My Focus for 2026: Helping Seniors Live Happier, Healthier Lives

The start of 2026 has been busier and more unpredictable than I expected. Life rarely sticks to the script, but it has given me something valuable: time to reflect. Last year, my energy went into helping seniors build their digital skills. It was rewarding, meaningful work — and digital confidence will always remain part of what I do.

But this year, I want to go deeper.

I’ve realised that what truly matters is not just helping seniors use technology, but helping them live happier, healthier, more connected lives. Digital skills will still be woven through everything I do, but they will support a broader mission: senior happiness and wellbeing.

To guide this shift, I’ve simplified my thinking into five core drivers — five habits that make life richer, more joyful, and more resilient as we age.


1. Keep Active

We all know the saying: use it or lose it. As we get older, staying active becomes essential — not just physically, but mentally too.

For me, that means pickleball, walking, indoor bowls, and the occasional bit of exercise. Mentally, it’s the daily Wordle and Waffle, podcasts, reading, TV that actually engages the mind, and simply living more mindfully.

Movement keeps us strong. Mental activity keeps us sharp. Both keep us young.


2. Stay Connected

Loneliness is one of the biggest threats to senior wellbeing. Staying connected isn’t optional — it’s vital.

I’m fortunate to have a loving family and caring friends who bring energy, laughter, and meaning into my life. As we age, it becomes even more important to surround ourselves with people who lift us up, not drain us. Energy‑givers, not energy vampires.

Connection is nourishment.


3. Keep Learning

Curiosity is a form of vitality. I’ve always believed in lifelong learning, and my love of digital tools gives me endless opportunities to stretch my mind.

I learn from others, from YouTube, from social media, and increasingly from AI tools like Gemini and Copilot. They’ve opened new doors and made learning more accessible than ever.

Learning keeps us relevant. It keeps us confident. It keeps us alive inside.


4. Help Others

Helping others has always been one of my greatest sources of joy. There’s something deeply fulfilling about supporting someone through a challenge, watching them grow in confidence, or seeing them master a new skill.

Purpose doesn’t disappear with age — it evolves. And helping others is one of the most powerful ways to stay purposeful.


5. Have Fun

Life is too short — and too precious — to become a couch potato.

Have fun. Travel. Go to the cinema and theatre. Explore new hobbies. Eat out, cook in, try new things. And above all, laugh at life. Joy isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity.

Fun keeps the spirit bright.


Looking Ahead

These five drivers — Keep Active, Stay Connected, Keep Learning, Help Others, Have Fun — will shape everything I do this year. They’re simple, memorable, and practical. And they reflect what truly matters as we age.

If last year was about digital skills, this year is about whole‑person wellbeing.

And I’m excited to see where this journey leads.
